Serving the LowCountry: LCTA’s Commitment to Charity and Youth Tennis Excellence
LCTA Charity Donations
We believe in giving back to the community that supports us. Following the announcement of our ongoing support for the Lowcountry Food Bank at the January Annual Meeting, we are excited to share that the LCTA Board of Directors has selected three additional charities to support this year.
Introducing Our New Charity Partners:
Each organization will receive a base donation of $2,500 from LCTA as part of our commitment to making a meaningful impact.
We encourage all LCTA League winners to consider selecting a charity donation instead of receiving a physical gift. By participating, you help us extend our reach and deepen our positive influence within the community. Together, we can make a tangible difference where it matters most!
CALTA Junior Recognition Program
We are proud to announce that the LCTA Executive Committee has voted to donate $1,000 to the CALTA Junior Recognition Program (JRP), along with a special raffle prize, the proceeds of which will also benefit this important initiative.
Each year, CALTA awards between $16,000 and $17,000 to outstanding middle and high school female tennis players through its JRP. This program not only recognizes athletic excellence but also encourages young women in our community to pursue their passion for tennis.
The Executive Committee believes this cause aligns perfectly with LCTA’s mission of promoting tennis throughout the Lowcountry. By supporting the JRP, we help foster growth and opportunity for future generations of players right here in our region.

Lisa Nimmich is our May LCTA All Star
If you have played tennis at LTP, you’ve most likely run into Lisa and her golden retriever sidekick and team mascot, Layla. Lisa has captained many teams since starting tennis over 10 years ago, sharing her enthusiasm and love for the sport with both women’s and mixed teams.
Lisa got into tennis after finding herself with extra time during an economic downturn and deciding to attend a neighborhood tennis clinic. She played at Ion originally, and later LTP Mt. Pleasant, quickly becoming addicted to the sport. Lisa played her very 1st match at LTP DI before she even knew how to keep score and became hooked.
As a former skier- both snow and water-Lisa is competitive by nature and soon found a new passion. Now, she likes to hit her favorite shot-a down the line zinger to keep her opponents on their toes.
When asked what she likes about volunteering, Lisa says that “the main thing in life is mattering.” Organizing is fun for her, and using this skill to schedule practices, matches and team get togethers is a rewarding way to use this skill while building camaraderie and having fun outside with her friends.
For her teammates, having someone with her positive attitude leading teams matters. Being a dedicated captain isn’t an easy commitment and Lisa does it for multiple teams every year, making tennis fun and rewarding for all around her.
